Sussex Fly Dressers Guild
We are the Sussex branch of the national body The Fly Dressers Guild with branches in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and we would like to extend to you a very warm welcome. Drop us a line or give us a call then come along and see what we get up to.
We meet from September through to mid-April every year in Brighton at the following address:
Clayton Church Hall, Underhill Lane, Clayton,
West Sussex BN6 9PJ
We gather on Thursday evenings for Fly Tying tuition (from zero to hero) but along with learning to tie some tasty fly patterns the evening usually involves a healthy exchange of ideas hints and tips for catching that elusive 'monster'. Lubrication in the form of tea coffee and biscuits is of course an essential ingredient of the evening!
Our Fly Tying classes cater to everyone from absolute beginners, through intermediate and on to advanced. So there is something for everyone including the opportunity to make new fishing friends in the process.
Once a month we have a guest speaker, someone who has made a name for themselves in the Fly Fishing world in one form or another and who is happy to share their knowledge and secrets with us. This event is also open to non-members so bring along a friend or friends as well.
In addition to the fly tying and speaker evenings, we also arrange and run a number of fishing outings and competitions throughout the year at carefully selected locations so there will always be somewhere to test out your beautiful hand-tied flies and lures along with a number of like-minded souls.
Check out the website, there is a load of useful material within and we look forward, perhaps, to meeting you in person. If not then we hope you find these pages informative.
