Kamasan B100N , 12 & 14 or grub hook

Thread:

Olive nylon

Weighting:

Thin lead wire underbody

Tail:

(Optional) Thin olive pheasant tail fibres as feelers

Dubbed olive rabbit’s fur with clear plastic strip shellback

Rib:

Fine gold wire to segment body, tied OVER the shellback.

Picked out from dubbing on underside, trimmed to even length

Special Tying Instructions:

Tie lead underbody to form “hump back”. Tie in optional feelers (“tail”). Tie in wire rib. Tie in clear plastic strip for shellback. Dub olive fur to hook eye. Stretch plastic shellback to eye, secure with thread. The red spot is a spot of red varnish applied to the shell-back before tying in rib. Tie rib over whole to form segments. Tie off rib and shellback and form neat head with thread,
Pick out legs with dubbing needle and trim.

Fishing Instructions:

Fish with long leader, 3 quick jerks, pause, then long pull, then repeat.

Interesting Facts:

There are many variations on these shrimps which can be tied without the red spot, but with a red, orange or yellow tag at the bend instead, dispensing with the “tail”.
With the “tail” but no tag or red spot it is a standard shrimp, but the tag and spot seem to be strong attractors to trout.
